Tim Riggins is the childhood friend of "most likely to succeed" supercouple Jason Street and Lyla Garrity. More Jason than Lyla who Tim has never really been close with. When Jason is paralyzed in a football accident, everything changes between the three. Tim bottles his anger and guilt over the accident and Lyla tries to bring him out of it. In a moment of desperation while Jason is in the hospital at his worst, Tim and Lyla share a kiss. We find out that Tim has always had a thing for Lyla, but has kept it hidden because of his loyalty to Jason and his own girlfriend, Tyra Collette. Tim reveals his feelings to Lyla and she hesitantly reciprocates those feelings (but her heart isn't fully into it) and an affair between them begins. Weeks go by and the sexual relationship between them grows into something more for Tim, but not for Lyla. She is doing it soely because she is confused about her feelings for Jason and the changes that will come in the coming months with his medical condition. All of her dreams have been shattered and she has no clue how to deal with it.
Lyla breaks it off with Tim after she starts to feel guilty about lying to Jason. But Jason soon finds out and shuts both Tim and Lyla out of his life. Jason and Lyla get back together briefly, but it doesn't last. Too many things have changed and they're both going in different directions now. Tim begins a relationship with a single mother, who lives nextdoor. While all of this is happening, Tim and Lyla both have problems with parents and siblings. They have yet to reconcile. // More Soon.
